(MoneyNewsWire.Net, January 08, 2016 ) Sunnyvale, CA -- Card Armor company makes credit card sleeves to protect against identity theft. Since the advent of the mandate that every credit card issued now must have a "smart chip" embedded into it the need for protection is greater than ever.
As the costs of financial and identity theft skyrocket into the multi-billions per year something had to be done about the ever increasing threat. So financial institutions had to step up their security defenses and make a card that had higher tech microchips in them to make it hard for anyone to hack their cards. They do prevent this on one hand to a large degree.
However, there is one vulnerability this chip opens people up to. Here is how it works: an unsuspected thief carries a scanning device in his pocket and stands in a busy place like a mall, airport, train station or a street corner. His device works off the same principle as a grocery checkout scanner. The device scans a card and the transaction is made. This scanner can work up to 20 feet away and reads through wallets, purses, and even clothes. When Joe Blow walks by their cards are scanned and there goes his money without anybody suspecting a thing.
Thought most Americans are completely unaware of this problem, it can be prevented very easily with a card sleeve that blocks RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) scans. There are many paper or plastic sleeves out there as well as RFID Wallet protectors which do the job. If one wants to keep his or her favorite wallet, or wants to carry them outside their wallet, they use the sleeve protectors.
The problem with the plastic or tyvek card holders is they wrinkle and wear out in time, and one has to slip their cards in and out to identify their cards. They also get to looking a bit "ratty" when they begin to wear and some of their effectiveness starts to wear out. Card Armor has solved these problems with a new design which is a sturdier RFID Sleeve with a clear front and sleek design. One can slip a card in and out fast, but doesn't need to in order to identify his cards. The card protectors fit in most wallets and in all standard wallet slots and would take a lifetime to wear out.
Anyone wishing to purchase these may do so by going to Amazon.com. They come in packets of 6 so if one doesn't need all of them, they may give the rest away to friends or family. The company's intention is to give people peace of mind. Their motto is: "It's better to be safe than sorry."
