Though the company sees no clear way of cutting the overall expense a long term plan would involve having warehouses with significant stock in faraway countries since sending in bulk will reduce the per unit cost. However, for that to work the company would need to have high enough sales volume figures to justify the upward cost and bulk storage costs over the long haul.
Stunning Gadgets is not the only company that has problems with shipping expenses. In the past big businesses like Amazon, and eBay have had to wrestle with increasing and often varying shipping costs. Most people from far away countries avoid purchasing from American ecommerce stores because the shipping costs can end up being twice what the product costs. The only way for many businesses is to hold stock abroad, but that option is only open for mega businesses. As a matter of fact, in order to really save money Stunning Gadgets would have to be able to hold up to a million dollars' worth of stock in warehouses in Europe. Plus, the shipping, important duties and warehouse rentals can amount to another million. But that would mean that each product just incurs up to $3 additional in costs. However, Stunning Gadgets has no plans of holding large stock abroad yet.
"Shipping cost is one issue and the other is shipping time. It can take days for a product to reach our buyers far away and at times if the product is not insured, in the event of a loss we bear the cost of replacement. The other big problem we have is that the costs will vary depending on where an item is being shipped, so we have to charge every buyer individually. We do advise buyers that they buy more so that they save on shipping since they pay the same for up to the same weight. But few new buyers want to purchase over a hundred dollars' worth of product." Stunning Gadgets' biggest market is still North America with parts of Europe. However, in order to grow and improve sales shipping and handling costs will need to be managed so that prices can be slashed for products like the Solar Panel Power Bank for buyers in faraway countries.
