The crime was committed on December 10, 2015, at approximately 4:15 am. The wanted man appeared in front of a restaurant located on Jean-Talon Street East and smashed a window in the storefront with a rock. While the outer glass pane shattered, the inside pane remained intact due to the protective security film installed. The person attempted to smash the window with a rock several times with no success. The person then threw a Molotov cocktail to start a fire and again with no success. The perpetrator fled on foot. The break and enter situation was captured on surveillance video.

Windows often are overlooked for more elaborate and expensive security measures such as surveillance cameras and alarm systems. While this technology is necessary, windows should not be neglected.
Mr. Brideau adds, "It should be noted that for the attempted break and enter case in Montreal, a commercial property a few city blocks away suffered a fire around the same time.
