(MoneyNewsWire.Net, April 07, 2014 ) Chicago, IL – The news travels pretty quick on the web and there are many conversations being hurled at the viewer at any one time. In the midst of news about high frequency trading and the price of stocks it is easy to get lost or sidetracked. There are industry news reports about many financial market trends that will shake up the odds for stock traders. In this age of websites, online news reports and social media it is difficult to keep up and stay informed. That is how a social networking site called Whale Trader got started. It was created with the idea of keeping the market followers on track with up and coming news via Facebook.
Whale Trader launched on April 3, 2014 and within hours jumped up to 10,000+ views. The news focused on interviews with the real Jordan Belfort, the Wolf of Wall Street, on the Piers Morgan Show. It also had news about the controversial online money currency Bitcoin and the page has grown into a community of the curious, the financially aware, and many others across the country. In just a few hours there were onlookers looking over the reports of the recent plane disappearance in Malaysia. There was also a bit of news on the recent rise of high frequency trading and a book review on the subject by Michael Lewis, “Flash Boys”.
The Facebook community grew at rapid pace due to an inclusion of real social media input from people outside the financial sector. These were not stock traders but people from other walks of life including entertainment, artists, doctors, attorneys and other professions. The result was a social media snowball that escalated into 12,000+ by April 4, 2014 with no end of stopping. The reason for the rapid growth is social media community creator, Ted Cantu, who runs a social media company out of Farmington, Michigan.
The project creates a high presence media awareness that is to include input from high frequency trading firms and industry analysis experts. There is even some input from Shark Tank TV personality Mark Cuban. The page is open for viewing and welcomes insight from the public. There are plans for more content including mini websites and opportunities for cross promotion. The goal is to create cross pollination of web traffic for other businesses in vertical markets.
