(MoneyNewsWire.Net, July 22, 2014 ) United Kingdom, Yorkshire -- On the 17th July 2014, Forbes reported that there is currently occurring a dramatic spike in US credit card fraud. It was reported that ahead of the introduction of EMV chips in credit cards in the United States, a further increase in credit card fraud is expected.
Director of payment services at Ingenico, Allen Friedman, stated that increased fraud is in fact already here; "sixty-seven percent of the UK-issued card fraud is from the US." He went on to say "a lot of counterfeit fraud is from European issuers since the fraud is migrating to the easiest target, and the easiest target is now in the US."
It has been said recently that preventing fraud will take layers of security, and this includes individuals doing what is available to ensure the protection and security of personal and business bank cards.
Here are some statistics about credit card fraud in the United States: - 17% of Americans have been victims of credit card fraud and/or debit card/ATM fraud - 40% of all financial fraud in the USA is related to cards - The median amount reported on individual credit card fraud claims is $399 per card - The total amount of credit card fraud worldwide is $5.55Billion - Those most at risk from credit card fraud are aged between 30 and 60, but fraud is also common amongst younger and older generations
